About The Event
Give 8/28 is a national day of giving focused on uplifting Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofits - organizations that are often underfunded, yet uniquely positioned to meet the needs of their communities. Taking place during Black Philanthropy Month, Give 8/28 builds on this global celebration of African-descendant giving with a concentrated online fundraising campaign that taps into the energy of 21st century changemakers.
Founded in 2018 by Ebonie Johnson Cooper of the Young, Black & Giving Back Institute, Give 8/28 started as a bold vision to spotlight grassroots Black nonprofits. What began with just over 100 participants has grown into a powerful movement raising over $1 million to date for organizations doing essential, frontline work across the country.
